
About Us

The institution, as an attempt to extend a supporting hand to the fellow beings, adopted a village (Pilassery), belonging to the Kunnamangalam Panchayat in Kozhikode district. The institution began the work by conducting a baseline study of the adopted village to understand its needs, problems and resources. On the basis of the baseline data a strategic plan was adopted for the comprehensive development of the village. Various stakeholders were identified including women, children, agricultural experts and farmers. The whole programme was worked out with the support of the Local Self Government of the village. Some of the key areas identified as priority were educational support and personality development of the children, self-employment opportunities for the women, environment protection measures etc.
The students, teachers and management worked in unison to create a better living condition and increased opportunity for the residents, through awareness and training classes, garden creation, garment construction and stitching lessons, language training etc. Students volunteered to devote their time at the services and received training from the faculty in whichever areas necessary. Students of the AUP School Pilassery were provided with spoken language training and writing skill training in order to enhance the understanding and usage of language. The female residents were supported with basic lessons of garment and stitching so as to pave the way for a possible earning and progress.
